Anzac Service

On Friday we had a very special Anzac Day Service.  We sung the National Anthem with pride and listened to Chris Wallace tell us a story about the battles at Gallipoli.  Mr Williams told us an amazing story about a family fleeing war times and coming to live in NZ and bringing their prized possession - a spoon, with them.  We listened to The Last Post - played by a trumpeter called Angus from St Andrews and each class had a representative to lay their white cross with the name of a soldier on it. Our class soldier was called Lieut Cyril Hayter.  We found out he came from Burkes Pass and went to high school in Christchurch.  Sadly he did not return from war.
